I Build Simple Solutions To Solve My Own Problems

I’m a self-taught coder.

I build stuff because I see annoying problems and think that there has to be a better way to do this.

Sometimes, it’s a friend who needs a portfolio website that doesn’t look like it was made in 2003. Sometimes, it’s realising how most parking information in Singapore is for cars and isn’t applicable for motorcycles. Other times, it’s building a budget tracker because I couldn’t find an app that I liked using.

What I Actually Build

Websites That Work

Like this one! I build lightweight sites powered by WordPress that look professional and function – no mysterious code that breaks the whole site when you try to change a link. I build sites that are easily maintainable, but things still break occasionally or need updates. I’ll provide ongoing support and explain how things work so you’re not completely dependent on me for simple things like updating your Instagram handle.

Automation Bots

Python-powered Telegram bots to make repetitive tasks less annoying. Not everything can be solved with a bot though, so tell me what the specific problem that makes you want to throw your phone at the wall is, and that’s where we can start.

Artist Portfolio Website

A clean, professional portfolio for a local artist’s work – infused with her visual identity. It was designed to as a digital gallery experience, letting her art speak for itself without competing with unnecessary web elements or slow loading speeds.

I helped her with the domain (her website link), setting everything up, designing and building the site from scratch.

MotoParker Telegram Bot

Built specifically for Singaporean motorcycle riders. While existing navigation apps like Waze and Google Maps include parking information, they’re not always applicable for motorcyclists (unless you’re willing to risk a fine!).

Motorcyclists, like myself, had to open a separate Google Maps layer, manually zoom into a parking lot near the destination, and route to it. That’s five extra steps with one being really annoying, and I hated it. A huge pain point that motorcyclists deal with daily!

So I built a bot that optimises the motorcyclist user journey to 2 simple steps: enter destination, and click on the preferred parking area. Now, hundreds of motorcyclists in Singapore use my bot for quick and reliable parking information.

A simple solution to a small, but really irritating problem.

HeyBudgie Telegram Bot

One of the keys to financial literacy is understanding your spending habits, right? I started tracking my expenses, but found it too troublesome to make a payment, open an app, key in the amount, key in the category, key in the date and then log it.

I use Telegram daily, like many other Singaporeans. Since I’m always updating my friends what I just had for lunch, I thought it would be nice to have a bot that I could update in a second as if it was a friend.

So I built it. Straightforward and simple, but helped me get my spending habits in order.
